Local Environment Plans
Local Environmental Plans (LEPs) provide the main legal (or statutory) document for planning and development within the Snowy Monaro Region.
The LEP comprises the written Instrument and a range of maps including land zoning, floor space ratio, height of buildings, protection of trees and heritage conservation, as well as a number of other environmental requirements. Details of the Snowy Monaro Region, LEPs can be found at the link below.

The process of amending an LEP is referred to as a Planning Proposal and is required as part of the plan making process.
A planning proposal may deal with a minor change to an existing LEP or it may aim to introduce a new precinct or Council-wide LEP.
