Australia Day 2025

Nominations are now open for the 2025 NSW Local Citizen of the Year Awards. You may nominate a friend, family member, community leader, colleague or someone well-known for outstanding efforts in the Snowy Monaro region.

Rural and regional communities like ours are famous for selflessness, community-mindedness, and heroism in times of need and crisis. The Snowy Monaro community plays a big part in making the place we call home such an incredible place to live, work and raise a family.

Each year, Snowy Monaro Australia Day committees from Bombala, Cooma and Jindabyne register for the program.

The award categories this year are: 

• Citizen of the Year (19 & older)
• Young Citizen of the Year (18 & younger)
• Special Achievement of the Year (community event, community group, arts and culture, emergency service, business or education)
• Sportsperson of the Year (19 & older)
• Young Sportsperson of the Year (18 & younger)
• Environmental Award (individual or group, open aged)
• Young Environmental Citizen of the Year (school aged)

Nominations are now closed, as of 12pm (noon) Friday 10 January 2025.

Jindabyne Australia Day Celebrations | John Connors Oval, from 9am

Rocking the Lake - Music Concert | Claypits Stage, Jindabyne from 2pm

Michelago Australia Day BBQ | Michelago Sportsground, 12pm - 1.30pm

Nimmitabel's Great Aussie Breakfast | Lake Williams, 8.30am - 11.30am
