Cemeteries

Snowy Monaro Regional Council manages a total of 23 cemeteries.

The cemeteries offer options for remembering your loved ones including conventional cemeteries and memorial niche walls. They are spread out across the region. Most are in a rural setting and have a history that goes back to the early settlers of the region.

There are other cemetery sites in the region which are not under the control of Snowy Monaro Regional Council and also burial plots on private property. Where possible records are maintained for many of these sites.

It is recommended that consideration is given to pre-purchasing a burial to relieve the stress at the time of death both financially and emotionally. To understand how this is done please view the Burials page.

Ashes Interments

Columbarium walls can be found at Adaminaby, Bombala, Cooma, Delegate, Gegedzerick and Jindabyne cemeteries.

Bombala, Delegate and Jindabyne cemeteries require ashes to be placed in a small container. These can be provided by the crematorium upon request.
