Closure of Killarney Bridge over Outskirts Creek - IMMEDIATE
Published on 08 September 2022
Snowy Monaro Regional Council advise the closure of Killarney Bridge over Outskirts Creek with immediate effect.
This decision follows a Load Bearing Capacity Assessment that took place on yesterday, where a number of girders and headstock were deemed damaged or rotten and moving up to 50mm with a 70kg load.
Council notes that the closure of Killarney will have some impact on journey times between Outskirts Creek and Bombala. With travel times south of the Killarney bridge, via Tayfield Road and Monaro Highway, taking approximately 22 minutes (or 22.4 km).
Council is looking at opportunities to fund replacement of Killarney Bridge with an application already submitted through the NSW Government Fixing Country Bridges program.
At this time, Council is unable to estimate how long the bridge will be closed for. An update will be provided to our community once funding has been secured.
