In preparation for the conclusion of the bushfire recovery funding arrangement, the Snowy Monaro Business and Recovery Hub is now closed. The recovery team continues to work with impacted residents and businesses with dedicated resilience programs rolling out across the local government area.

Council’s recovery team is funded through Resilience NSW until the end of June 2022. Recovery activities will continue as planned, rolling out the remainder of the approved two-year community led recovery activity program.

All recovery services are still available with the Community Recovery team, along with our new Economic Development Officer (commencing in May) working with community on individual and whole of community support programs. These services will be online, over phone and email, or face to face with pre booked appointments, often at resident properties.

There’s an exciting calendar of events still to come before the program wraps up. Our new Seed Savers initiative has introductory sessions in Bombala, Jindabyne, Bredbo and Michelago coming up, helping our community to kickoff a series of Tiny Seed Libraries across the region.

We also have Community Preparedness Action Planning Workshops, the Men of the Monaro Program, a Garden and Bee Workshop in Adaminaby, another Working Dogs Day, Mental Health First Aid in Michelago – plus other initiatives as part of the Bushfire Funding Mandatory Grants Program including Keeping Calm in Times of Crisis and Pub Song.

With the closure of the hub and the end of the local photography exhibition, we can announce the winner of The Hub Photo Exhibition is Melissa Guest of Rockton with her Rise Up and Touch the Sky image. She won a copy of Paula Boer’s book “Bushfire Recovery at Badja”.
