Council not submitting response to Minister's notice of intention

An extraordinary meeting was held this morning at 10am in Cooma to consider whether Snowy Monaro Regional Council would formally respond to a Notice of Intention to Issue a Performance Improvement Order, issued to Council earlier in December 2024 by the Honorable Ron Hoenig, MP, Minister for Local Government.

After extensive discussion during Monday’s meeting, a motion brought to respond to the Minister’s recent correspondence was lost. This means that Council itself will not be responding to the Minister’s notice.

Each councillor has been invited to make an individual submission to the Minister. Today’s decision does not in any way restrict councillors from making their own submission in response to the notice.

Council will continue to update the Snowy Monaro community on this developing situation in the New Year.
