Have your say on our region’s future: Community input invited on plans
Published on 09 May 2024
Snowy Monaro Regional Council is seeking feedback on our draft 2024/25 Integrated Planning & Reporting (IP&R) documents, which outline the priorities, projects and budgets for the region.
The IP&R documents include the four-year Delivery Program detailing Council's main activities, the annual Operational Plan and budget, Revenue Policy, Fees and Charges schedule, and the Long Term Financial Plan projecting income and expenditure for the next 10 years.
Mayor Chris Hanna said that these documents will determine the services and facilities that Council provides to the community, and what level of service Council provides into the future.
‘These plans basically map out what Council aims to do and how we’re going to pay for it over the short, medium and long term,’ Mayor Hanna said.
‘They cover everything that we do, including really important areas like infrastructure maintenance, community services and facilities, environmental management, and land use planning – just to name a few.’
Council has been open about the serious and urgent financial challenges faced by the organisation. As we make the tough decisions needed to secure a better financial future, we need to hear from you – our residents and ratepayers – about what services, facilities and projects matter most.
The exhibition period runs from Monday 6 May 2024 to Monday 3 June 2024, with submissions open now online.
Don’t miss your best chance to make our Council and our region better than ever, visit https://qrco.de/SMRCipr today.
Anyone with a stake in the Snowy Monaro's future is urged to take the time to review the draft documents and make a submission. Hard copies of the documents will be available for viewing at all Council offices and libraries across the region.
A schedule of pop-up sessions and drop-in events are being held across the region as a part of this consultation. Residents and ratepayers are encouraged to stop by to discuss these plans face-to-face with Council’s strategy team and senior staff.
