A major refurbishment is on the way for Jindabyne Skate Park, thanks to funding recently received from the NSW and Federal Government’s Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund.

The design for the revitalised park has been produced by Convic, one of the world’s leading skate park designers with more 25 design awards and successful projects from Melbourne, to Shanghai and Dubai.

Feedback from the community in recent years has made it clear that the design of the current park, now nearing 20 years old, is no longer fit for purpose. The refurbishment will completely revitalise the skate park, to provide Jindabyne and the wider Snowy Monaro with a recreation and social facility the community can enjoy for many years to come.

Consultation between the Jindabyne Skate Park Association, Convic, Snowy Monaro Regional Council and the wider community has been a key part of the development of the refurbishment plan from the project’s early days back in 2018. We’re now asking for feedback on the proposed concept design to shape and develop a final design before construction is scheduled to begin in October 2022.

How to have your say on the skate park design:

  • Yoursay website: The feedback form is live now on Council’s YourSay page for community feedback through till Sunday 20 March 2022, covering design, features, skill progression and flow.
  • Pop-up information stall: onsite at Jindabyne Skate Park, Thursday 10 March 2022 from 3.30pm to 5pm answering questions and taking interested community members and skate park users through the proposed concept designs.

The funding we’ve received from the State and Federal governments is for a refurbishment, rather than replacement of the existing facility. The bowl will be retained and work will focus on ensuring the park is suited to all levels, beginner through to advanced. The land area the current park covers will stay the same, but better utilised with expanded and improved skate infrastructure added.

Council is grateful for the financial support provided by the NSW and Federal Government’s Bushfire Local Economic Fund for making this project a reality, and for the Jindabyne community for their feedback and assistance in making sure we get this redevelopment right.
