Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor Narelle Davis is calling on the community to show respect, kindness and patience to our Council employees and Councillors who work tirelessly to provide council services to this community. Enough is Enough - I cannot continue to be silent as a small number of nasty people continue to defame, insult and bully Councillors and Council employees. The continuous attacks on social media of our employees and Councillors is disrespectful, bullying of the worst kind and downright cowardly. It is truly uncalled for. This region has had five years of climate assault as a result of drought, bushfires and two years of continuous wet weather which has stretched every resource council can provide. Add COVID-19 pressures on top of that and everyone, including the community, is fatigued. Council is working very hard to repair roads, mow grounds and ensure the communities are getting the best services we can provide in the current economic and physical climate. If you as a community member have a concern you can contact council or councillors directly via email or phone. Posting misinformation and nasty, defamatory messages on social media does not work. I ask the small number of keyboard warriors to treat the council employees and councillors as you would like to be treated. We work hard for our community, so I ask the community to work with us and not against us. Thank you, Narelle.
