Public Statement: Vale - Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Statement from Councillor Narelle Davis, Mayor, Snowy Monaro Regional Council

It is with great sadness that I join with people from around the world in acknowledging the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

On behalf of our Council, and the Snowy Monaro community, I thank Her Majesty for her service to the Commonwealth since she was crowned in 1952. 

Queen Elizabeth was a leader who demonstrated strength, grace, compassion and genuine care for people.

We were fortunate to have Her Majesty visit our region in 1963 as part of her NSW Country Tour.

Many of our community members remember this visit fondly, as she signed the WWI Honour Roll that lives in the Berridale Council Office, toured our region and accepted the presentation of some of our local women at their debutante ball that year.

Please join with me in honouring her unwavering dedication to service and a life committed to the people of the Commonwealth.
