Tree removal notice: Cooma Centennial Park
Published on 09 September 2024
The community is advised that arborists will be on-site at Centennial Park in Cooma on Tuesday 24 September 2024 to remove a dying elm tree, located near the bus shelters at the corner of Sharp St and Bombala St.
The tree’s health has deteriorated over the last several years, with independent arborists brought in during this time to try and nurse the elm back to health.
Regrettably, these efforts have been unsuccessful. Acting on arborist advice, we have had to make the difficult decision to schedule the tree for removal. If left in-place, the elm’s condition will continue to worsen and it would pose a serious hazard to the public.
Council will replace this tree with a new planting, with further details about the species and location to be confirmed at a later date.
