The new Jindabyne Library project is moving along quickly and we need the community’s help to choose a name for this brand new and long-awaited community facility before it’s due to open in July 2022 – so we’re holding a competition.

Submissions are open now on our YourSay page until 5pm Monday 25 April 2022, so you’ve got plenty of time to brainstorm a winner. We’re unable to offer any prize beyond the bragging rights of picking the winning name, but opportunities to play such a prominent and lasting part in our region are pretty rare – so get to work on your submission today.

In November 2021 Council announced a partnership with Built and Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp (fjmtstudio) to design and deliver a new community library for Jindabyne, following a very competitive tender process.

The design brief specified a prefabricated building to meet a delivery timeframe of mid-2022 and to be complementary to the adjacent Jindabyne Memorial Hall, replacing the current Mobile Library service.

Funding for this project is thanks to the NSW Government’s Regional Cultural Fund, for the construction of a modular library that will remain on-site for at least five years.
