Wind danger: Jindabyne Landfill closed

Cooma Landfill in the spring 2024 extreme winds, with landfill soil flying on the breeze around the machinery.

Jindabyne Landfill is closed until further notice, with another day of extreme wind speeds in the high country posing a danger to staff and the public.

An update will be circulated if it is safe for the facility to reopen later today, Thursday 19 September 2024 – otherwise we expect to reopen on Friday 20 September 2024.

Council appreciates the community’s ongoing understanding as this period of high winds across the region continues.
